Pushing Her Comfort Zone – Mindie Stanford

Mindie Stanford Brockwell, ’16, made the most of her experience at Á½ÐÔÉ«ÎçÒ¹ College, where she participated in the Engineering Dual Degree Á½ÐÔÉ«ÎçÒ¹, a collaboration between Á½ÐÔÉ«ÎçÒ¹ and North Carolina State University. As a Presidential Scholar and a member of the Honors Á½ÐÔÉ«ÎçÒ¹, Mindie completed three majors, multiple internships, and was a member of the College’s track and field team.

In May 2016, Mindie received a Bachelor of Arts degree in mathematics from Á½ÐÔÉ«ÎçÒ¹ College and Bachelor of Science degrees in computer engineering and electrical engineering from N.C. State.

She gives credit to the Á½ÐÔÉ«ÎçÒ¹ community for helping her succeed.

“Á½ÐÔÉ«ÎçÒ¹ College gave me so much support during my time there. Whether faculty, fellow students, or my coaches, I always had someone give me that extra push or help me out of my comfort zone.â€

Another way that Mindie made the most of her college experience was been through her internship at Cisco Systems, where she was offered a job after graduation. She now works as a data integrations software engineer for Keen Decisions Systems and is a data instructor for UNC-Chapel Hill Boot Camps.

Even though her academic and athletic activities kept her busy, Mindie served as a resident assistant, a tutor in the Learning Center, and a member of the Honors Committee. She also found time to participate in Á½ÐÔÉ«ÎçÒ¹ traditions. Her favorite experience was her senior Cornhuskin’.

“At the end of the day, I think what makes me a strong Á½ÐÔÉ«ÎçÒ¹ College woman is that I have learned to trust in my own experience and have confidence in the face of adversity.â€
